Tuesday, August 6 • 11:30am - 12:30pm
Cultural wealth, asset pedagogies and hip hop Information Literacy

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Cultural wealth theories assume students to be knowledge bearers and that they bring community assets to campus. Asset approaches to learning seek to amplify and build upon the cultural knowledge and lived experiences of students of color and first generation students.  This session discusses the theory and application of asset-based learning in Information Literacy with examples from a first year learning community and a hip hop research course.
