In 2017, Library Journal reported that only 30% of first year students entering college are prepared for college level research.  In response, the Howard University librarians partnered with three area DC high schools to assist seniors with developing the research skills needed to produce scholarly work at the collegiate level. Using the Big6 model, the Research Literacy Bridge Program has helped the students develop their research skills.
