Individual Presentations: A. Investigating Identities in Librarianship, B. Uncontrolled Feminism: Using Social Tagging in a Citation Manager to Create an Equitable Folksonomy C. Do More of What You Want to Do
Individual presentations are approximately 15 minutes each. There will be time at the end for Q&A.

Individual Presentation A: Queering identity: critique, self-exploration and social justice. (Sara Howard & Shawn(ta) Smith-Cruz)
This dual talk will be a critical investigation into gender & sexuality identity within librarianship using a social justice framework. The two LGBT subject specialists seek to problematize the profession by challenging the librarian to focus inwardly to a space concentrated with identity and self-exploration and examine the how gender and sexuality influences the ways we provide library services, calling attention to our roles as librarians in responding to social justice.

Individual Presentation B: Uncontrolled Feminism: Using Social Tagging in a Citation Manager to Create an Equitable Folksonomy (Amber Wilson and Dr. Taine Duncan)
Libraries must acknowledge that the patriarchal structure inherent to controlled vocabularies suppresses students' access to and engagement with information. How can we demonstrate the value of critical research while also encouraging a collaborative, equitable research vocabulary? Bring your laptops and join us as we explore Zotero tagging function to synthesize a vocabulary rooted in feminist philosophy.

Individual Presentation C: Do More of What You Want to Do (Ciara Healy)
Drawing explicitly on Sara Ahmed's work on diversity initiatives in universities, this individual presentation will unpack the affordances of library instruction, course/discipline specific or basic bibliographic/information literacy instruction, as a rich site of resistance within in a traditional university classroom. Specifically, what is at stake when equity and inclusion is included or even foregrounded in library instruction?

Cultural wealth, asset pedagogies and hip hop Information Literacy
Cultural wealth theories assume students to be knowledge bearers and that they bring community assets to campus. Asset approaches to learning seek to amplify and build upon the cultural knowledge and lived experiences of students of color and first generation students.  This session discusses the theory and application of asset-based learning in Information Literacy with examples from a first year learning community and a hip hop research course.

Advancing Intersectionality: Including Mixed-Race Perspectives within Campus Libraries
Numbers of mixed race individuals are growing, though they are often invisible on our campuses. We will share ways to collaborate with faculty, departments and student groups to promote library programs, collections and services to better support mixed race researchers and individuals.

Poster 4: So your deadname is visible to the world...: Trans Identities and Name Authority Records
Journalistic and Copy Editing best practices are shifting or have shifted to state that it is always incorrect to include a trans person's legal name unless you've spoken to the person in question and received permission. Why haven't cataloging best practices? This poster looks at the apparent point of conflict between discoverability and trans inclusion and hopes to destabilize the notion that these are mutually exclusive.
